Patty Rae Wellborn is a studio artist and art teacher in Abilene, Texas. She has been teaching and presenting workshops for the past 10 years. She is an active member of The Center for Contemporary Arts in Abilene and the Creative Arts Club. She is involved in the Art Reach Program as a teacher for organizations including Big Brothers, Big Sisters, The Noah Project, Just People, The Windcrest Alzheimer Hospital, Day Nursery of Abilene, Boys and Girls' Club, and others. Patty Rae has presented summer workshops sponsored by the Grace Museum and the YWCA of Abilene. She also stays active teaching private lessons and giving demonstrations to other area organizations. Patty Rae works in many mediums. She paints murals and portraits and is adept in the fine art of printmaking. She also designs and constructs large metal sculptures and works in illustration. One book that was illustrated by Patty Rae is "I Like It When You Read To Me", written by Glenn Dromgoole and funded by a grant for the Literacy Council of Abilene. She also illustrated Janet Franklin's book, "My Skin Has Fallen and It Won't Get Up!" Patty Rae has also written a children’s book entitled "The Backyard Rink" and is currently working on illustrating and publishing it.
